Kakap Natuna was built as a single hull trading tanker at Sumitomo H.I. Shipyard in Japan in 1975. Her overall length is 284m long, width is 43.4m, depth is 20.6m and Gross Tonnage is 67212T. Class notation issued by RINA are C*, floating unit – FSO; special navigation, Fatiguelife 10; inwater survey. Certificate of Class was issued on 10 February 2013 and is valid until 3 August 2017. Vessel was converted to FSO in mid 80’s and was then taken over and operated by Star Energy since 1995. Thereafter, the vessel was out of service for a few years and then went through a lengthy refitting at a shipyard in Batam in 2011 and 2012, when the management and operation of the vessel were handed over to DM, which had been managing Cinta Natomas since 2005.
